Hello,
My name is Nancy and I raise registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats. My husband and I own a small hobby farm near Lansing, Michigan.
At Aisling farm we are striving for a miniature dairy goat with superb conformation and dairy character. We love pretty colors and blue eyes as well as anyone but since these attributes do not enhance a doe's ability to fill her milk pail, we do not emphasize these traits in our breeding program. With this tiny breed, cute just seems to come naturally. All of our goats are registered with AGA and ADGA. Both of these organizations are extremely helpful and offer a wealth of information.
I look forward to hearing from other dairy goat breeders and owners. This is a wonderful opportunity to exchange knowledge and support from the experienced goat breeder, pet owner, and novice.
Have a magical day and I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you!

Hi AislingFarm! Where near Lansing? I grew up in Webberville, my family still farms there and I'll be back there soon.

Hello haydayfarms! Glad to hear from you. We currently live in Eagle, Michigan which is between Lansing and Grand Rapids. I say currently because we will be moving in the near future. When will you be in Webberville? Do you raise dairy goats?
Nancy

We're moving back next May (2012) after my sophomore year here at University of Wyoming. We had Boer goats for awhile, but when my husband and I get settled on our own farm I'd LOVE some Saanans or Toggs. You have Nigerians, it sounds like? I think I've been to an ox roast and mud bog in Eagle, but I'm not 100% positive that's where it was.

Yes indeed Eagle is known for their Eagle Fair Days. We do raise Nigerians and I am currently investigating raising show mini silkies. Have you seen them? They are a cross between Nigerians and Fainting Goats and are a relatively new breed. I am also thinking about mini Nubians. I am the youngest I will ever be and find the dwarfs and minis are a lot easier on my back with hoof trimming, etc. A friend of mine raises Boer goats and they have become very popular for meat in Michigan. What are you majoring in?

I've seen Mini Silkies, they remind me of a little terrier dog. My aunt wanted them really bad for awhile. They're very cute! I'm majoring in Ag Education, with an emphasis in Animal and Veterinary Sciences. I'd love to teach, but since I do plan on eventually becoming a stay at home mom/farm wife, I might just work for the extension office or something to that extent.

Kidding will start in approximately two weeks. We built the jugs and are laying supplies away. I have one doe that has been very stubborn in the breeding department and I really thought she would be cooperative this year. I am not so sure now. Hoping this is a doe year!

A beautiful blue-eyed buckling and doe delivered safely yesterday. Running back and forth to the barn with another doe ready to kid. Fun, fun, fun!
